More digital paintings!
Here are a couple more digital paintings I did recently for the super awesome art challenge blog. Good times.

This was for the topic of ‘Hairy Situation’

And this is for the topic of Hula Ghoula… So a zombie-ish thing holding a tiki cup. Made sense to me.
Sad SAAC Riggle
Hello everyone. I have posted before that I occasionally participate at my buddy Adam’s art challenge blog, cleverly called, “Super Awesome Art Challenge” (SAAC). Well, I decided I want a perfect track record over there, so I am trying to clear my back-log of missed challenges.
Here are the first two old challenges I completed:
Challenge: Rainbow Fun Times!

I think this is self explanatory. He has rainbow hair. Fun times, I guess.
Challenge: Pirate Pants!

See, it is a pirate who is panting. You could look at this and say, “Look, a pirate pants.” See what I was going for there?
Both of these were done in the swell art program “Painter”
I have 5 or 6 more to get caught up on I think. I’ll post them when I do them.

Do y’all remember those Coen brother paintings I did?! Well, they are for the show Coen vs. Quentin. Here is the flyer for your enjoyment:

It was a grand ol’ time. Look at my by my paintings!

Oh, and if you want to see more or read more words by me, I posted all about it on the venerable Paper Bicycle blog!
A cat named Billie (boots)…

Paint
A friend of mine commissioned a painting of her cat. I said, ‘Yes.’ The only catch to this: I’d never painted a cat before. I made a couple digital cats a few years ago. And when I was in third grade I made a book about our family cat, and drew lots of cat drawings. But really, me and cat-art, well, strangers basically…
This is it (if you want to real about my trials and tribulations, they are below):

The brave kitty-hunter sitting in his den of velvet mouse trophies. 100% dignified. Billie-Boots, 2011 acrylic, canvas, 8″x10″
So, this project turned out to be more of a challenge than I anticipated, but it was good times none the less. See, the big problem was the fur. I have done fur a couple times, to varying success. But cat fur is a different kind. And I will confess, I painted the fur 3 times. The first time I bombed it completely, and basically ‘erased’ it all (rubbing alcohol and a fresh coat of under-paint) The second time was closer, but I sort of forgot about form, shape, etc. The third time, I just built on that, and in the end, I am pleased with it.
Since I have one, here is the state of things between the first failure, and the lead up to attempts 2 and 3, so post rubbing alcohol, new under-paint….And clearly before I realized the mouse heads.
